Can I receive Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) treatment while taking western medicine?

In most cases, there is no conflict between these two treatments. TCM focuses on the cause of disease and improving body constitution. Integrating traditional Chinese and western medicine increases efficacy. Take the medicines 1-2 hours apart. Please consult your physician about your condition at time of service.

Can I see a different physician at follow-up visits?

Yes. Your medical records are electronically and safely stored. You are free to choose physician according to your needs.

Do I receive discount on regular acupuncture/TuiNa treatments?

We offer several package deals for those who need regular acupuncture/TuiNa treatments. These include buy 10 get 1 free, pediatric package, partial body massage package, full body massage package, and acupuncture weight loss package.

Is there tip for giving Chinese medicine to children?

You can request adding honey flavor to the medicinal powder by your physician. The sweet sour flavor can offset the bitter taste, but does not lessen the efficacy of medicine.

What types of payment do Ma Kuang accept?

We accept a number of payment methods, including cash and NETS. Some locations accept VISA and Mastercard. Pease refer to the list.

What if I feel sick after taking the medicine?

Please stop taking your medicine and consult your physician immediately.

Why do acupuncture fees vary among physicians?

You are charged according to your condition and acupoint locations used for treatment.

Can I make an appointment for my visit in advance? Otherwise, how long is the wait?

We do not accept appointment for physician consultation in advance, as the length of each visit varies greatly. The appointments are on a first come, first served basis. We accept walk-ins during business hours. There is usually a short wait time. Please feel free to call the clinic with any question prior to your visit.

For TuiNa therapist, you can either make an appointment (in person/by phone) or walk-in for treatments. We will serve customers with pre-arranged appointments first.

Why do I need to provide my personal information?

According to Ethical Codes and Guidelines for TCM practitioners Section 4.1.2, published by Traditional Chinese Medicine Practitioners Board (TCMPB), a TCM practitioner shall ensure that proper and accurate records are kept to enable proper aftercare and service for his patients; Medical records kept by TCM practitioners shall include the particulars of the patients.

Can I receive CHAS subsidies?

TCM clinics are not included under the Community Health Assist Scheme (CHAS), as well as not providing discount to Public Assistance Card or Community Medical Benefits Card holders. We still give special discount for elderly. Click here for more details.

Can I make private medical insurance claims?

The cover you get from medical claims depends on the policy of your insurance company/HR. Please note that we have both TCM physician and TuiNa therapist, only the former are registered under Traditional Chinese Medicine Practitioners Board (TCMPB). Some insurance cover charges generated by TCMPB-registered treatment only. If you are unsure about whether or not you can make a claim, please confirm with relevant insurance agent/HR personnel beforehand. Please inform our clinical assistant during registration if your insurance policy require treatment to be done by TCMPB-registered physician.

Are physicians at Ma Kuang licensed?

All physicians at Ma Kuang are Singapore registered TCM physicians and acupuncturists. They are licensed by the Traditional Chinese Medicine Practitioners Board (TCMPB), a statutory board under the Ministry of Health. In addition, all prescriptions used are approved by Health Sciences Authority (HSA).
